Product Note:

Select online data sheet information is drawn from bioinformatics databases, occasionally resulting in ambiguous or

non-relevant product information. It is the responsibility of the customer to review, verify, and evaluate the information

to make sure it matches their requirements before purchasing the kit. Our ELISA Kit assays are dynamic research tools

and sometimes they may be updated and improved. If the format of this assay is important to you then please request

the current manual or contact our technical support team with a presales inquiry before placing an order. We will

confirm the current details of the assay. We cannot guarantee the sample manual posted online is the most current

manual, it is intended to serve as an example only. Please refer to the instructions For Use provided with the

assay kit for precise details.

Other Notes:

Small volumes of GS elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during

shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in

the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Searchable Terms for GS purchase:

MBS264815 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing

the presence of the Gelsolin (GS) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of

the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples

containing GS. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS264815 kit is based on GS antibody-GS

antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect GS antigen targets

in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, GS. Appropriate sample types may include

undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility

identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

Related Product Information for GS elisa kit

Principle of the assay:

This experiment use double-sandwich elisa technique and the ELISA Kit provided is typical. The pre-coated antibody

 is human GS monoclonal antibody and the detecting antibody is polyclonal antibody with biotin labeled. Samples

and biotin labeling antibody are added into ELISA plate wells and washed out with PBS or TBS. Then Avidin-peroxidase

conjugates are added to ELISA wells in order; Use TMB substrate for coloring after reactant thoroughly washed out by

PBS or TBS. TMB turns into blue in peroxidase catalytic and finally turns into yellow under the action of acid.

The color depth and the testing factors in samples are positively correlated.

UniProt Comments for GS

Gelsolin: a calcium-regulated, actin-modulating protein that binds to the plus (or barbed) ends of actin monomers or

filaments, preventing monomer exchange (end-blocking or capping). It can promote the assembly of monomers into

filaments (nucleation) as well as sever filaments already formed. Its expression is significantly decreased in many

tumors and transformed cell lines. Gelsolin and other proteins including E-cadherin, BRCA, p21WAF, HoxA5, and

retinoic acid receptor II are regulated by epigenetic changes in breast cancers. Gelsolin helps mediate the ability

of HDAC inhibitors to protect neurons from oxygen/glucose deprivation. Two human isoforms are produced by

alternative initiation.

Protein type: Actin-binding; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted; Nuclear receptor co-regulator

Cellular Component: ruffle; extracellular space; focal adhesion; protein complex; perinuclear region of cytoplasm;

lamellipodium; extracellular region; cytosol; actin cytoskeleton

Molecular Function: calcium ion binding; actin binding

Biological Process: regulation of cell adhesion; actin filament severing; phosphoinositide-mediated signaling; wound

healing; apoptosis; actin nucleation; vesicle-mediated transport; response to ethanol; actin filament polymerization;

 tissue regeneration; actin polymerization and/or depolymerization; response to folic acid; oligodendrocyte development;

barbed-end actin filament capping; aging

Research Articles on GS

1. It was concluded that cytoskeletal effects of Cd in mesangial cells are partially mediated by Cd-dependent activation of

CaMK-IIdelta, binding of CaMK-IIdelta and gelsolin to actin filaments, and cleavage of gelsolin.
