Algestone 

Algestone is a synthetic progestin, a type of synthetic progestogen, which is a class of compounds with progesterone-like activity. Progestins like algestone are often used in combination with estrogen as a component of hormonal contraceptives, including birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy. Chemically, algestone is a 17α-hydroxyprogesterone derivative. Its pharmacological properties make it effective in regulating the menstrual cycle and preventing pregnancy.
